Balustrades Portfolio
A balustrade is a comprehensive safety barrier and structural system comprised of a top rail (handrail), vertical supports (balusters or panels), and sometimes a base rail. Primarily used to prevent falls from staircases, balconies, terraces, and elevated areas, they combine functional safety with aesthetic design.
Types of Balustrades
- Glass: Popular for modern, minimalist designs, often used to create a feeling of space and allow unobstructed views. Options include frameless (using spigots or stand-offs) or semi-framed systems, often using 12mm toughened safety glass.
- Stainless Steel: Known for high durability, low maintenance, and corrosion resistance, making them ideal for both interior and exterior/coastal applications (specifically Grade 316 for coastal areas). They can feature horizontal bars, vertical bars, or cable, for a modern look.
- Aluminium: A cost-effective, durable, and lightweight option that is corrosion-resistant. These often come in powder-coated finishes and are popular for pool areas and balconies.
- Wooden: Offers a classic, traditional, or rustic aesthetic, often used for internal staircases. They require more maintenance (sanding, painting, or varnishing) to prevent moisture or pest damage.
- Wrought Iron/Steel: Used for more traditional, ornate, or industrial styles.
- Concrete: Typically used for exterior, robust, or, in some cases, classical architectural styles.
